Our History
Late 1940s – Early 1950s: The Foundations of the VBCA: The Vermont Basketball Coaches Association is unofficially formed by a dedicated cohort of high school coaches. Their mission: to standardize play, improve coaching education, and advocate for student-athletes across the Green Mountain State.
1973: The Birth of the North/South All-Star Tradition. The first Senior Games are held, establishing the premier showcase for graduating seniors across all divisions. This tradition has grown into a highly anticipated annual event, celebrating the final high school appearance of Vermont’s top talent.
2001: Founding of the VBCA Hall of Fame. To ensure the architects of Vermont basketball are never forgotten, the Hall of Fame is established. This registry honors coaches, officials, and contributors whose leadership and character have left an indelible mark on the sport.
2003: Formal Incorporation. The VBCA officially incorporates as a non-profit organization. This move allows for expanded fundraising, providing scholarships to student-athletes and hosting professional development clinics for coaches statewide.
